Discard Sharp Objects Properly

Workers at the Buiding 79 sorting center have reported that researchers are continuing to throw sharps, both new and used, in the general trash. While the personnel working at the sorting facility are very diligent about looking in containers before reaching in, this is a serious safety concern for all. Not only is there the potential of getting stuck, but there could be a biological hazard as well. Sharps, such as needles, razor blades, or any item capable of piercing the skin, must always be placed in a rigid sharps container, specifically designed to protect personnel from such items.
