Watch Those Telephone Cords!

cords

Telephone cords, power and data cables can be the cause of serious injury. Recently a Lab employee inadvertently stepped into a loop of telephone wire under his desk, and got up to walk out of his office. After 3 steps, the length of the cord played out, and stopped his left foot in its tracks, causing him to fall forward so quickly he was unable to use his arms to stop. The employee's face hit the edge of his co-worker's desk, causing a laceration between the eyes, and a very big headache. Telephone jacks and electrical and data connections should be located so that cords do not cross paths of travel in and around the work area. If furniture or equipment is relocated, re-check for looped or trailing cables in paths of travel.
